Beginners Ride Report

Bought the bike, now where to ride it. After contacting Phil through a local bike centre Manchester Extreme, I attended the club meeting and then arranged to meet the following Sunday.

I met up with Andy at a lay by near Marple and rode to the starting point at Marple Bridge for 10am. It was a beautiful day and I was really looking forward to what was to come. Although I was the only newbie on the ride the lads told me that I should only ride at my own pace and if I had any questions just ask.

We set off on probably the most difficult stretch of the ride 'the donkey trail' (aptly named) on which I fell in a heap halfway up but eventually made it to the top by foot, One of the lads took the bike to the top for me. With only my pride slightly dented we set off towards Buxton , with a mix of easy to intermediate stretches and breathtaking views of the countryside.

Several stops later and lots of advice from the lads the day was developing into a truly brilliant day out.

By 12 noon we were in Buxton where we stopped off for Lunch at a cafe and then off towards Matlock. We reached Matlock at 3pm at which point I decided that I would set off home. This trail riding is a lot more tiring than you think. Each part of the ride was different and very enjoyable.

I would strongly recommend anyone to contact the TRF and do some trail riding. I will certainly be up for my next ride soon.
