This run had been organised the week before at the last club meeting, new to trail riding with us were Darren Bott, Dave Finley and Darren Maloney.

An early start from Marple saw us take the usual route up past Linnet Clough and on towards Hayfield, on through to Chinley and up to the start of Roych Clough.

The new lads were all doing well as we went on along the Roych, stopping at the stream half way along for a breather. The next bit proved to be a bit tricky at the top of the lane for a few of the newer riders. This particular stretch was where several TRF members had come a cropper whilst posing for the channel m cameraman a month or two earlier!

A fuel stop at Bamford was made before moving on up to Bamford Clough, which was to almost to be a hill too far for pc Dave on his little XR 125. Half way up, the clutch was almost non-existent, we managed to get the bike up to the top with a bit of pulling and pushing then adjusted the clutch in readiness for going up Stanage Edge. With the clutch on the XR now ok, we all got up the trail with no problems, stopping only to look at the 4 x 4 guys trying to navigate the giant rocks as they made their way down the edge. Over and round to Ringinglow, before picking up the byway across Houndskirk Moor, then stopping for a quick drink at the fox house inn.

Next we made our way over to Totley moor where Dave had a bit of an off, a quick repair job on his bent brake pedal by Phil saw us ride on towards Baslow and then on to Monsal Dale, but with time getting on, it was decided that we would take a quicker route homewards which took in Silly Dale, this was a very narrow trail which was now overgrown and could prove to be a bit tricky if you hit one of the many hidden rocks we encountered. We then ended up back on Dirtlow Rake, which in turn led us up to the top of the Roych, no problems on the way back meant us arriving back at Marple at about 5.30 pm.

Some great trail riding, spectacular views and most of all everyone had a good laugh. What more could you ask for on a Sunday!

If you are interested in coming on a run, but maybe can't get down to the club nights, you can always give john a call on 07706655427 to see if there are any ride places available or you can book in for future dates.
