My First TRF Ride

I first heard about the Manchester TRF from attending the launch of the G450X at Williams BMW in Manchester where members of the group were giving out flyers. I spoke to them and was told about their monthly meetings and went to check it out.The meeting was well attended and it was great to meet so many like minded people and decided to book onto a ride.

All six riders are members of the Manchester TRF (Trail Riders Fellowship) and this was my first ride out with the club. Now I have put many road miles on my bike but not off road.

10am we all met up at the meeting point arranged at the clubs meeting the Monday before but when we got there the area was shrouded in thick, dense fog/clouds! This hampered the early part of the ride, as there's nothing worse than riding unknown trails, whilst suffering reduced visibility to both your visor and my specs!

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch, so we found a great little cafe that our group leader John knew and we all tucked into our sausage barms in record time!

Before long we were climbing higher into the Peak District and the sun had finally broken through! We rode all kinds of different trails and I was feeling good until we came to The Rocks. Now this was a bloody difficult bit, as we battled our way up through this extremely rocky trail. The most worrying thing was the drop to the right hand side! Somehow my Serow and I got through this area unassisted!!! We then needed to catch our breaths, as we were a bit knackered by the end of this trail! We sat down on the grassy bank with a smile on our faces taking in the view of the lovely rolling hills and looking back down the trail we had all managed to get up. I think the bikes appreciated the break as well.

We then continued the ride for a few more hours, without a chance to stop for photos until we had this amazing view of the valley below us.

It wasn't long after this before I was forced to return home after snapping off the exhaust header pipe, after an unlucky but spectacular incident with a large rock and Team Serow trying to fall on her back!

Anyway I managed to ride home the 50miles without being stopped by the Police, despite the deafening noise created by my little machine. See even when injured, the Serow gets you home! Great Bike! Great Day!

Even though I had some bike damage I must admit it was a fabulous days riding!

I’m hooked! This is not the last they will see of me.
